Brief Two: TVC
It was required to work in a group consisting of two visual communication students and one copywriter to create a moving, compelling and convincing integrated campaign to create maximum awareness for an NGO. The main component of the campaign is a Public Service Announcement in the form of a TVC. Our chosen NGO is Love Life which deals with educating young people on how to achieve a holistic lifestyle whilst raising awareness of HIV. We have decided to pin point, more specifically to, safe sex and contracting STD’s.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases are passed on from one person to the next, most commonly through sexual contact and bodily fluids. There are a vast amount of STD’s however it can be prevented through either abstinence, practising safe sex or if you are at risk; getting tested. The concept of our campaign leans towards getting tested and knowing your status rather than preaching teens and young adults to simply abstain as this will not be affective for the target audience. By raising further awareness of the problem, we will be able to slow down the spreading of the disease as well as pushing those at risk to get tested.
Love life targets the youth and young adults; age 15 to 24 as this is the age that the youth involves themselves in risky behaviour that could negatively affect their lives. The objective is to successfully raise awareness of practising safe sex in order to prevent HIV and STD’s as well as urging individuals to get tested if at risk of contracting an STD. The aim of this is to know your status in order to prevent further spreading of the disease.
Through insights gained, knowledge about the NGO chosen and the concept which is leading the campaign, we will successfully execute our Public Service Announcement and ultimately raise awareness of STD’s and the need to prevent them as well as get tested if at risk.
TVC Synopsis
Sexually Transmitted Diseases is a common threat in today’s society. With more than 25 to 30 infectious organisms that are spread through sexual activity, there’s no wonder statistics are on the rise. Through risky behaviour and poor life decisions, the chance of contracting an STD is unfathomable. It’s a global hassle that could be easily prevented and contained by abstaining, practising safe sex, warning your partner of your condition or seeking clinical treatment if at risk of an STD…but what happens when you don’t?
