Brief Three: Dairy
This brief requires us to create a diary from our own personal experiences. This dairy should outline, or reflect upon, individual days of the week but these days need not be a “linear” week. It should not follow the conventions of a traditional diary but should still incorporate elements that create the look and feel of a diary entry.
The planning and ideation of this brief started at looking and certain events throughout my life and sifting though those experiences to see which would make a good story. I wanted my diary to be personal but to still be something that would make an interesting read to anyone who would pick it up. There were no limitations to this brief only that the diary had to be based on actual events. I personally have never kept a diary before so this was a new experience for me. At first I looked at the type of target audience I would wish to attract in looking and reading about the content in my dairy. The subject matter of my entries would be based around the concept of music. I chose this because music is one of my greatest passions and has been involved in my life for many years. I believe that this concept best relates to the requirements of the brief and to myself. Not only is music important to me but also to other members of my family. Music is something that brings us all together and is a talent that we all share. In the diary I aim at expressing the deep commitment I have toward music and the place that it shares in my household. I hope to show in the entries that the instruments themselves have a deep connection to my family. They are something that we cherish, admire and hope to pass on to future generations.
